Back in Davao, Philippines I had my coffee shop series blog posts. I posted different coffee shops found in Davao (at that time) or coffee shops in Davao that I visited. 🙂 Now, I am going to post my Dubai version of that series. I’ve been in Dubai for three years now and been to different coffee shops as well. I love coffee and I love exploring new tastes of coffee. I also enjoy spending time in a coffee shop since most of the time they have a quiet and peaceful ambiance. Owners of the coffee shop also design their shops properly to make it comfortable enough for any type of customers.
First stop, Walter’s Coffee Roastery in the Dubai Mall.
Walter’s is located on the ground floor of The Dubai Mall. The same level of the Dubai Fountain. I love Dubai Mall and I always get surprised to see new shop around the Mall. That is how I found out about Walter’s. I was just roaming around the mall and this coffee shop caught my attention.
They have a unique shop that is inspired by a laboratory. The menu also is similar to the Table of Elements. Thus, I decided to give it a try.
I ordered Iced Dirty Chai as recommended by the lady staff. It doesn’t hurt to ask any cafes/restaurant what their best sellers. We do not need to pretend to know the menu. Sometime, we just have to tell them our preferred taste and they will come up with really nice recommendations. Please remember that it would ruined their reputation if you end up not liking their recommendations, thus, I believe that they always recommend their best items in their menu. 😀
The Iced Dirty Chai was actually good. I like the coffee taste. I just don’t know how to describe it. lol I enjoyed the thought of drinking coffee using a beaker and erlenmeyer flask. 😀
In the middle of the shop is like the experimentation area of the lab. I think they conduct some sort of a show here – like the proper brewing of coffee.. I am not sure though as I haven’t seen it. However, I’ve seen some posts on FB when they have staff wearing lab uniforms and doing some sort of (coffee) experiment.
It looks cool and I would love to see it sometimes. I like this place and the coffee. Maybe next time I visit Dubai Mall, I will drop by here again and try some other stuff.
A bit of history from their official website – http://walterscoffeeroastery.com
They founded the first Walter’s Coffee Roastery in Istanbul, where in the 16th Century one of the first coffeehouses in the world opened. According to the website – Walter’s Coffee Roastery is the first coffee laboratory, specializing in daily roasted coffee. They respect coffee and its chemistry. From extraction and brew temperatures to espresso machine pressure and grinder configuration, they have coffee down to a science.
Isn’t that cool?
