Celebrate Kadayawan The Vikings Way

Kadayawan VikingsAugust is an important month for all Davoenos.  This is the month when we celebrate Kadayawan Festival. Kadayawan is a celebration of life a thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest and serenity of living. It also focuses on the multicolored mix of Davao and Mindanao’s indigenous communities as well as migrant settlers, whose identities make up the rich cultural heritage of this island.  Kadayawan is also tagged as the King of Festivals.  And this year, the king of Festival meets the king of Buffet Restaurants ~ Vikings.

It was almost a year ago when I first published my blog about Vikings. That was the time when I called Vikings the King of Buffet Restaurants. After eating in different buffet restaurants almost anywhere, I can still say that Vikings remains the King.  No one comes close to what they offer.

Going back to Kadayawan, Vikings will launch its new menu for the upcoming Kadayawan celebration.  Starting August 11 to 17, 2014 they will be having the following dishes.

Here are my favorites:

Vikings Special Kinilaw – This is something new for me coz’ its not your usual Kinilaw.  This is DAVAO in a kinilaw.

Rellenong Manok sa Mangosteen Sauce – This dish is on my top spot. I didn’t know that Mangosteen could be turned into a sauce and would perfectly compliment a chicken dish.

Beef Steak Tagalog – I love how this dish tasted.  Imagine Beef Steak cooked in a Pinoy way.  It’s like the Philippines exploding in your mouth.

Baby Back Ribs in Durian Barbeque Sauce – I love Durian, and this dish is the perfect representation of Davao.  They drizzled it with enough durian sauce so as not to overpower the barbeque sauce.  I like how I can still deliciously taste the barbeque sauce but with a pinch of durian.

Brazo de Durian – Brazo is one of my favorite desserts and that’s why this version caught my attention.  This dish has two of my favorites (durian & brazo) and it really looks good.

With all these dishes, there is no other way to best celebrate Kadayawan festival than to be in Vikings.  So, what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, family and partners then go to Vikings – SM Lanang Premier and have your best dining experience.
