Weekly Photo Challenge: One

This week’s photo challenge is very interesting. I have different interpretations of the word ONE.  The first one was inspired by Michelle’s post. (http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/12/20/photo-challenge-one/)  I was invited to attend a Christmas Party for the Badjaos. Badjaos are sea gypsies and one of the very few sea gypsy tribes left in the Philippines.  A lot of them have been modernized already and currently live in the city.  Anyway, while the party was on going and the kids were exchanging gifts I noticed this kid holding dearly his gift.  I think this is the first gift he got this Christmas and he just couldn’t let go of it.  I love how he became ONE with the gift! Christmas is really for kids and it is just right to make them happy this season! 😀

My second photo symbolizes UNITY of the FILIPINOS.  We were colonized by Spain for more than 300 years, then other nations came to conquer us.  We were even under the control of a dictator president but we STOOD TOGETHER.  We fought back, joined our hands and became ONE.  Now, we are one FREE nation.  Recently we were hit by the Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) and many of my countrymen were found dead and left homeless.  Despite the tragedy that hit us we are still here as one nation, trying to help each other and thanking those nations who helped us.  The dove is a sign of peace and love we are sending to all of you who helped us. THANK YOU!

My third and last photo for the word  ONE is a photo of my grandmother.  She is already 84 years old and I grew up with her.  She is the reason why we exist.  She is a mother of eight and a grandmother of more than 20 children.  Every Christmas we make sure that we celebrate it with the only ONE mother of us all.  My mom, aunts, uncles, cousins gather together in the old house and celebrate Christmas with her.  She is the reason why our family is united and going stronger.  Despite her age she continue to be the image of a strong woman who has seen a lot of things in this world.  She is our inspiration and I think none of us (her grandchildren) has come close to any of her accomplishments.  We love her and I dedicate this entry to her! 😀
