Since it’s the Christmas Season I decided have my own Davao Tagline. “Davao! ~ Christmas is here.”
I wanna show the world how beautiful Davao is and how we celebrate Christmas here. Last year I posted Christmas Around Davao City. I am doing the same thing this season but I have alloted enough time to roam around the city and took pictures of different famous landmarks in the City.
Victoria Plaza is the oldest mall in our city. Every year they put up this giant Christmas Tree of lights. People still get excited to see this tree of light. When I was young I always asked my aunts and uncles to bring me to Victoria Plaza coz’ i wanted to see this tree. This year, Victoria Plaza management put mini trees of lights around the parking area. They also put colorful lights on the Talisay Trees.
People’s Park is the former famous PTA ground. The government decided to turn it to a park with the help of Kublai – Davao’s famous artist. This year, the park is not as ostentatious as it was last year. The city Mayor announced that they will not spend money to buy new decorations this year but would rather donate the money to the victims of the Yolanda typhoon.
The City Hall of Davao is currently the brightest place in Davao at night. The place is full of Christmas lights and decorations. The Mayor stayed true to his announcement that he won’t spend a single cent for any decorations. The people incharged of the decorations used old decorations and got a donation of Christmas lights from China. It seems like our Mayor has a good relationship with some of China’s government officials. The locals are not the only people who admire him but also people from different places including foreign officials. 😉
